ancestry is not just blood. it’s tradition. who inspired you, who had lead you to where you are now. honor the people who deserve it. your family isn’t just people you’re related to by blood.

There are ancestors of blood
Then there are ancestors of lineage. These are the ones who walked the path before us. Are you LGBT+? Those dead are your ancestors. Polytheist? Those who practiced before you are your ancestors. Artist? The walls of museums are filled with the work of your ancestors.

I like this post a lot better now.

My blood family is a literal nightmare I could probably write a TV show about and make a lot of money.

But my soul-family… now that is a whole other thing. One of the things I love about practicing hearthcraft is that when I sink into “the zone” (which as a druid I’ve come to call awen) I feel as though I am merely the latest set of hands in a long line of witches protecting the hearth.
