But here’s the thing: straight people tend to be completely okay IDing as straight. They don’t want to be “in” this community because there is literally no benefit to them. They aren’t seeking out all these resources because they aren’t accepted for being straight. Y’all literally parody this shit all the time because it never happens. Straight allies want to know how to support and uplift us–not try and get into it as part of the club. Literally any “evil cishet” that is trying to “usurp” the LGBT+ community could claim they are any other part of the community.
Being ace/aro does come with stigma and institutional oppression–it’s just experienced differently than what a bi person or a trans person or a gay person experiences. Y’know, kind of like we already acknowledge that no one in the LGBT community faces the exact same types of oppression. Stop rewriting the history of the LGBT community to fit your gatekeeping. All ace and aro people belong.
