the responses i have to this are nearly innumerable but to claim that a person of a certain race cannot be a certain sexuality is unfathomably racist and also has been a way of dehumanizing POC throughout history. POC are simultaneously hyper- and de-sexualized and for me to respond to that, as a person of color, by trying to reclaim my sexuality by defining it, by making it something to be proud of, and in seeing it in other people (even fictional characters, sure) is… huge.
my grandmother – only two generations ago – was a sex slave trained legally under the United States government at a school specifically sanctioned to erase our culture and make her obedient to the white man. She lived her entire life this way. She never escaped, because it was legal, because it was marriage. She had no choice; as far as history, the government, her husband were concerned, she had no sexuality. This story may not seem entirely relevant, but I assure you it is, completely.
but, anything more i shall leave to mod Fae, whom I believe will also have some strong thoughts on this matter.

And oh, buddy, do I have some shit to say about this.
Listen; as much as I appreciate you prioritizing colored queer politics to the voice of said people of color – oh, wait. No, I don’t appreciate it. Because everyone was (and still is) dead silent about racism in the lgbt+ community, particularly when it concerns Asian people. I’m not fooled by the sudden ‘interest’ in keeping asexual attention away from us.
You’ve got a lot of nerve coming onto an ace blog with an Asian mod that’s vehemently militant ace, random racial-ambiguous-and-therefore-possibly-white-blogger, and then trying to convince us that there’s this inherent danger in being ace with an Asian face that’s somehow elevated by our sexualities.
Is there an actual problem with non-Asians and their misconceptions of Asian characters/people, and how it might translate into possibly invasive headcanons of asexuality? Yes, of course. Do I believe for a second that you’re all actually invested in queer yellow peril, and how it affects us? Going by your track record of caring about issues that we, as a community, have actually voiced, no.
If there’s an issue, it’s not ‘Asian characters could possibly represent asexuality’. It’s ‘white voices have (like always) an oppressive stronghold over voices of color, even when it pertains to media made by people of color, featuring predominantly people of color’.
That’s an issue that didn’t start or is centered around Asian asexuality, and it’s not going to be confronted by going around and forbidding Asian men from their asexuality.
