unpopular opinion – left wing and right wing are a construct developed by The Elite to prop the people against each other. WW3 is already happening and we are doing it to ourselves by separating each others ideas and opinions.
Whatever you want to call it, the elite control the grand majority of society’s resources and thus have a tyrannical amount of power over the global population. “The left-wing” actually acknowledges this fact, while “the right-wing” either ignores it or presents it as a good thing. Acting like there isn’t a meaningful distinction to be made in those understandings of the world is to try and sidestep reality. If you want to use different words to describe those two ideologies — one group that sees resource and power inequality as a problem, another group that sees that inequality as inevitable or good — be my guest. But there’s already a pre-established terminology that allows people to organize and fight for a better world; and those of you who argue that fighting for a better world beyond capitalism and tyranny “transcends the political spectrum” still need to team up with leftists because we have that goal in common. You may find it distasteful that we’re “dividing” humanity into left and right, but it’s the same as any other distinction created by any other set of names. There’s the tyrannical, alienating status quo and there are people fighting to subvert it by creating a freer and more egalitarian world — there will be a variety of names for that fight, but you need to accept that many of those names will fall under the banner of leftism.
(And I want to make sure that in your original question, you aren’t conflating the left with an elite-managed Democratic Party and other branches of liberalism. Those are merely “progressive” iterations of the status quo that don’t change the qualitative imbalance of power between oppressor and oppressed. The left stands for a new world beyond class inequality, not for “class inequality with a human face”.)
