I need everyone to stop thinking that monogamy is a problem that polyamory solves so we can all finally recognize that relationships under patriarchy, be they monogamous or polyamorous, are afflicted with the same power imbalance skewed towards men leading to the whole set of problems (e.g. infidelity, abuse, uneven distribution of labor in relationships) that we’ve come to erroneously associate with monogamy thanks for coming to my Ted talk

Divorce rates being high and marriage rates being low in the West, and particularly in the US, aren’t because of some inherent problem with monogamy but b/c the political and economic conditions that coerced women into marrying men who would cheat, abuse, and leave them to do the bulk of work have gone away, largely, for educated, middle class or upwardly mobile women

I aint gonna articulate this right but I’ve noticed there’s this weird sub culture on tumblr where it’s frowned upon to say anything positive about your life. Like occasionally I see someone post something like “I love my job so much” and a few responses are like “wish I could find a job :/” or “must be nice to not have depression” and it’s really strange. A lot of people are pulling themselves out of dark places or finally figuring out how to be happy (no easy feat) and they don’t need you projecting your own demons on their moments of happiness they wanted to share.

Stuck up white man who believes no one is ever right but him: I should be…a doctor…a police man, perhaps..some kind of job where I must listen without bias to solve the problem ..
