when my friend found out her boyfriend of three years was cheating on her she went through his phone, took pictures of every interaction he had with another girl, printed them out, wrote down where she had been at every instance and what lies he had told her about where he would be, and put them in a folder. when she confronted him and he denied everything she pulled out this big ass folder and just said “lets review” and Honestly, that is the most iconic thing anyone has ever done.

please stop reblogging sylvia plath poetry

For ppl asking why she’s an anti black, anti Semite. She has used the n word and compared her depression to the holocaust

Even not counting her poetry her private journals are full of disgusting, overblown antisemitism. She didn’t just use Jewish people for her metaphors, she outright hated them irl and yet decided to use their suffering for her own gain

here’s a source with some quotes

okay, I’m Jewish and I appreciate this sentiment. and if someone wants to cut out Sylvia Plath, go for it, I get it.

But. by this logic we’d also need to stop reblogging TS Eliot, Oscar Wilde, and Shakespeare quotes. Virginia Woolf wrote anti-semetic things in her private journals, too. If you only want to read classic poets who liked Jews and black people, that’s fine, but like. good luck? Sylvia Plath isn’t an exception.

idk. Tumblr’s attitude of “consume nothing problematic” just doesn’t work if you’re part of a group that most culture-creators over the last few centuries have hated by default. For people actually in those groups, it’s not like the only two choices are 1) worship authors who hate you or 2) completely cut the majority of literature out of your life. You learn to read critically and acknowledge flaws where you find them.

anyway, as a Jewish woman, I would much rather see a version of this post that said “please read Sylvia Plath poetry critically because she’s anti black and antisemetic” than just “stop reblogging Sylvia Plath poetry.”

IMO, reblog Sylvia Plath all you want, just not unthinkingly.

Fun statistical fact: Cows are about 300 times more likely to kill you than coyotes.

Minor sidenote to statistical fact: If it was common for people to keep several hundred coyotes on their property and routinely chase them into a corral and handle them, this statistic would be different.

this is a great summary of ‘conditional probability’, a statistical property many people grapple with

My roomba is scared of thunderstorms

I was sitting at my desk just a few minutes ago, drawing, and a really loud crack of thunder went off–no power surges or anything, just thunder–and my roomba fled from its dock and started spinning in circles

I currently now have an active roomba sitting quietly on my lap

Humans will pack bond with anything.

I had a teenage girl come into my tea shop with her mother the other night. She purposely grabbed a teamaker in the most crunched-up looking box on the shelf (got banged around in shipment) and carried it protectively over to the counter. “If something’s in a damaged box I have to get it because I’m afraid no one else will love it,” she laughed nervously.

Not only will humans pack bond with anything, the empathy level of adolescent girls in particular likely has puppy-saving, world hunger-solving, war-ending powers.

I once saw a really bumpy lime at the grocery store, just a real ugly fruit. Later that night my boyfriend & I were driving home from rehearsal at like 11:30pm & passed the grocery store & I stared crying & he said “is it that lime? Do you want to go back and get it?” And I nodded and pulled the car around and bought the lime.

People say dumb shit like “animals don’t have feelings”

That makes me want to fight people. It’s like they’ve never met an animal other than a human in their entire life???

I’ve had animals in the house almost my whole life. I’ve seen videos of animals. You can’t tell me they don’t have feelings.

Yeah they might be different than human feelings, but they still have feelings regardless.

Kinda the same, but when I was in high school and my teacher told the class that animals didn’t go to heaven because they didn’t have souls we flipped.

I’m not even religious in any sense and that’s so fucking rude!!!!! If humans go to heaven the so help me so do all other animals!

I’ve heard people say that tho. Like what do you mean they don’t have souls??? To me, what makes humans alive is what makes other animals alive, which I consider to be their living essence; which is basically someone’s soul but idk i don’t like that word cause of reasons; but like how else are other animals living and stuff?

I just can’t stand when other humans say shitty things about other animals! It’s very rude and I don’t like people like that

Of fucking course they go to heaven! They’re all too damn good for us, we deserve none of them, yet we have them here. It would be hell to get to heaven and find out animals don’t go to heaven, for whatever bullshit reasons. And don’t even try to tell me they don’t have souls. That’s a load of shit. I know they do, you can see it in their eyes.

Fuck. We don’t deserve any of them.

Exactly, if any thing they should go to heaven and not us!!!!!
