What are some Aphrodite things to do this summer? Persephone also

thepastelpriestess:

Oh man there are soooooo many things!! Summer is Aphrodite and Persephone’s playground! I’m gonna make a list of things that come to mind for each Goddess but you can also interchange them honestly

Aphrodite

  • Beach it UP!!
  • Volunteer to help clean the beach or just do it while you’re beaching it up!
  • Collect seashells
  • Learn to surf, scuba, or swim if you don’t know how
  • Apply sunscreen EVERY DAY (That’s a hardcore devotional act right there!)
  • Spend more time outside (WEARING SUNSCREEN!) Read outside. Meditate outside. Go for a walk. Scroll through tumblr outside. Ask Jessie questions outside, lol! Just try and be outside more!
  • Fuck society and get that god damn bathing suit that you know you look fucking HOT in!
  • And also wear a crop top/short shorts/cute dress/be shirtless whatever it is! Flip society the bird and be fabulously you!
  • Also again SUNSCREEN!
  • Take the time to appreciate the beauty of Summer and what that means to you
  • Check out what local events that are happening around you. Like the community centers in my area do movies by the beach and at the park. They are a lot of fun and usually free! So check out what summer events you and your friends can go to
  • Make your own summer reading list
  • CELEBRATE APHRODISIA
  • You can also celebrate Adonia since it was traditionally a summer festival. I personally view it in the Fall tho
  • Just honestly have FUN! Whatever that means for you. Just enjoy yourself! Have a water balloon fight or a super soaker fight. Drive around singing pop songs at the top of your lungs. Dance with the fireflies at night. Whatever it is that you want to do, do it! That most Aphrodite thing in the world is allowing yourself to be truly and deeply happy!
  • And wearing sunscreen! That is the second most Aphrodite thing in the world!

Persephone (And pretty much Demeter as well)

  • Start a garden or just get one plant friend to take care of
  • Go to a farmers market
  • Treat yourself (and Persephone) to some fresh flowers
  • Eat more fresh fruits and veggies
  • Be barefoot and just allow yourself to connect deeper with nature
  • Spend time with your mom or a trusted female figure in your life. Or really just spend time with your loved ones
  • Allow yourself to laugh more
  • Be more present and try not to let the worries of the future keep you from appreciating today
  • Be mindful on your impact on the environment and how you can do better
  • And in the spirit of that, do something for the environment, whatever it may be
  • Do some nature walks/trails
  • Embrace your inner child and allow yourself to have fun like one again. Go to the playground. Jump through the sprinkler. Climb a tree.
  • Oh and also WEAR SOME GOD DAMN SUNSCREEN!! Yes it is also a very Persephone thing to do!

steamhunk:

Imagine a modern Persephone, her lips the color of pomegranate wine, hair black as obsidian, and her skin the color of fertile earth. Her dress moves with the colors of spring, shifting from the deep greens of meadows to the flowers in bloom. The crown atop her head is made from the stones and gems of her husband’s – her – kingdom.

Imagine a modern Persephone who walks through graveyards with Hecate. They hold the hands of grieving loved ones. She whispers words of comfort as she escorts a small child down to the underworld.

Imagine a modern Persephone who stands at the forefront of the environmental movement. Her Godhood is tied to the earth and below, and she will do whatever is necessary to see that it survives.

Imagine a modern Persephone who is as ruthless as she is beautiful. She was never the damsel the stories paint her out to be. She is forever the Dread Queen, the Maiden on the Throne of Iron.

She found a god she loved and went with him willingly. As the goddess of Spring, she knew what the pomegranate would mean. She chose to leave her mother, and in doing so, became Queen of the Underworld.

Imagine a modern Persephone who teaches young girls they can be rebellious. She whispers in the ear of every girl, “Follow your heart and to it stay true, and you shall never know fear.

Artemis has her huntresses, and Aphrodite has her doves. Persephone refers to her daughters as the destroyers, for like their patron, they carve their own way.

When I feel the goddesses

I inhale as sage burns. The smoke wraps around me and my mind quiets. It fills me and Hecate is there.

I have never felt Artemis with a bow in my hand. I have never been so skilled. instead, I sit next to her in old trees. We listen to the air.

Aphrodite is near me when I gaze at myself in the mirror and have no hateful thoughts about my body. She swims in my bath water, happy that I am taking care of myself.

Athena is in my intense need for battle and for standing my ground. She helps me flip the pages of my books.

Hestia is there in the candles I light. She flickers and dances in the flame, illuminating my face.

Hera beckons me when I hold my tongue. She stands by as I create my own healing in the silence.

Persephone is in the smell of spring. As the rain hits the pavement and falls down on me, I am in her embrace.

Demeter watches when I must compromise and when I must smile through aches to survive.

Praying for My Soul to Bloom

Athena,

Guide my mind into the open flames of change. Allow my old leaves to float away from my open hands.

Artemis,

Show me my way into the wilderness of thought, into the abysmal green lands that frighten. Let your creatures walk with me.

Aphrodite,

My soul searches for me, the body it carries is lost in an ocean of doubt. Wash my self-hatred from my throat.

Hera,

Butterfly wings pull me up into the evergreen trees, because you are a believer in hearts overcoming themselves.

Persephone,

Darkness isn’t always a terror, a rotten thing. It binds and comforts, allows for introspection. Grow signs along my path.

Demeter,

She knows I walk the path of the unmade. I have much to do, but I am not broken.

Hecate,

The wisp of wind exhales from my lips as newness is drawn into me. Love me through my transformation.

Hestia,

Watch as I stumble into a new welcoming place. The walk is uncomfortable, but you are holding my hand.
