America, Fight Your Demons

I spent a great deal of time on this one, and ultimately I’m proud of the result. This was originally just a class assignment for my Western Philosophy class, but given the upsetting turn of events we’ve seen in US politics over the past few days and my own personal feelings on the subject, it turned into something more cathartic.

The piece is based on John Locke’s principal, The Right of Revolution, which states that all free people have the right to challenge any government or government figure who poses a threat to their lives, their rights, and their freedom.

The beastly figures sided with Trump are meant to symbolize the various social and political plagues that make life so horrific for so many. They are America’s Demons: racism, sexism, bigotry, religious discrimination, corruption, greed, the abuse of power, etc. As Americans, it is our duty to fight them.

You wanna be an ally? You wanna “punch Nazis?” Keep reading.
Look, people. This is fucking serious. Please read.

We aren’t glitter bombing Nazis. We aren’t throwing flour on them. We definitely aren’t going to peacefully shut them down. They want to kill us, they said so in Charlottesville. They made it very clear where they stand and how they plan on taking action. Their violence needs to be met with great force.

If you are not down to physically fight these fuckers, please stay off the front lines. You’ll get hurt and your pacifism will be a liability, resulting in others being hurt. Run support. We need more support.

-Go to a street medic training
-Run jail support
-If you’re good at using the internet (as in better than average), learn how to securely (and correctly) doxx these people.
-If you’re a creative type, write a zine about anti-fascism
-If you’re EMT trained, HOST a street medic training
-Become a legal observer through the
National Lawyers Guild
-Set up letter writing events to send to political prisoners
-There’s a lot of parents who want to fight but can’t because of their kids, watch their kids for them
-If you can cook, organize food drives/pot lucks for the larger demonstrations.
-Help people in more counseling/therapy ways.
-Help get needed supplies, such as food, water, and medical supplies.
-When organizing, inclusivity is not optional, and is mandatory to win.
-Listen to the concerns of those most effected.

Add any extra support jobs you think of.

I could definitely watch kids for our street soldiers

From now on, all anticapitalist propaganda must be written in the form of the Game Grumps political sugar bear gag

Blue is me, yellow is @rittle-me-this

“Say granny, mind letting me have some of that sugar crisp?”

“Sorry, sugar bear, but a factory error resulted in today’s batch of sugar crisp being dyed the wrong color, and my boss told me to throw it all out in order to maximize prof- gasp! – sugar bear, where are you going with that?!”

“Those wasteful regulations can’t stop me, granny. I’m going to share all this perfectly good food with my houseless neighbors at our weekly Food Not Bombs meal, because we can’t get enough of that sugar crisp, sugar crisp….”

“This is a concentration camp for children. Who is the tent manufacturer willing to profit from this? Who is the bed manufacturer? Who is the company willing to handle the data? Who is the food supplier? Who are the other companies willing to detain children for cash?”

About the imprisonment of immigrant children in the US.

But really also good questions to we asking about ALL prisons everywhere, with an extra focus on all companies directly responsible for the detention proces: the construction companies, the ones who make the surveillance technology, the ones who place the fences, provide the handcuffs, etc. And of course the companies profitting from prison labor.

These companies are willing participants in our oppression for profit and we can take that to the front door of their nearest office.

Does it matter? Plenty of companies that got rich by murdering millions in WWII and they’re still going and wrecking the environment now, so…

Companies that profitted from deportations and concentration camps in the past have faced almost no consequences.

Maybe that, ya know, sort of impacts the willingness of companies to profit today?

Maybe it’s about time we started adding consequences so they’ll think twice in the future? Preferably the very near future.

None of these systems function without the companies and individuals that accept complicity in these systems and the bystanders that let them.

The government can and will subsidize whatever it wants, making sure that you pay off the multibillion dollar companies amoral executives providing these products to murder and ruin lives with your taxpayer dollars, whether you want to or not. Boycotting alone won’t do anything, we gotta vote these assholes out before they take away our voting rights (which they are doing their DAMNDEST to do, and may already have done, check your registration NOW).

Honestly, voting? Do you honestly think ICE was nice under Obama? He deported more people than any president before him.

All the democrats ever do is turn ‘absolutely horrible mass deportation, mass incarceration, imperialism and state terror by drone’

Into ‘shiny mass deportation, mass incarceration, imperialism and state terror by drone with hashtags and a little health care’.

Voting isn’t going to change shit.

ACT. RESIST. REVOLT. OBSTRUCT. SABOTAGE. MAKE IT STOP.

Did you see that movie about the resistance hero who voted for Otto
Wels in 1933? Neither did I.

They are getting uglier and more violent, so we don’t really have the option to “go high”. We need to get mean. They want to dox us and out us? We need to knock on their doors 15 queers deep and politely explain to them how that kind of behavior isn’t safe. They want to post signs on college campuses? We need to post them directly on the doors of their homes. Let them know we’re powerful, and we are not going anywhere, and they are not safe as long as they continue to advocate for our repression and genocide. They fight dirty, so we need to get even dirtier.

Actually you know what. Just don’t mow. Get rid of your lawnmower. Turn your whole yard into a wildflower field or an edible garden. Lawns are the invention of the upper class to show wealth through wasted plots of grass that is meticulously tended for no reason other than to be grass. It’s literally an empty plot of land they kept because they had so much money they didn’t need it to grow food. Not using a yard as just a yard is an act of rebellion.

One of the main industries still supporting lawns is chemical pest control companies, and they’re also responsible for the insecticides that crashed the bird populations in the 40s and 50s as well as a lot of what’s killing bees and butterflies now. The herbicides they produce specifically targets “bad” plants like dandelions, buttercups, and clovers, which are plants bees rely on for early spring feeding. Grass is just grass; it would be great for feeding small mammals if people would let it grow more than three inches, but they won’t.

So, yeah. Kill lawnmower culture. Plant some native flowers. Grow some vegetables and fruit trees. Put out bird feeders and bee sugar spots and homes for both. Be kind to bugs and birds and rabbits and opossums and whoever else might wander by. Make your neighborhood a lot more beautiful.
