tarotprose:

She held in one hand
the fragmented memories
of her father;
a tyrant
a snake
a decaying man.
Her heart still burdened
by his twisted evil.
…A hurt that grew
for years
with scars too deep
to ever plant hope into.

Friendly reminder that indie tarot and oracle decks are “expensive” because they’re not mass produced. Believe me, most indie artists wish we could price them lower and make them more accessible, but unless we meet certain quotas, we’re losing money and paying out of pocket. We can’t even sell them at cost because we still have to pay taxes on our sales. We have to pay marketplace fees to sell online. We pay fees just to make transactions. Most of us aren’t even paying ourselves minimum wage for the time that goes into making and distributing our work. Indie decks aren’t overpriced. They just cost more to produce and market.

Sometimes tarot reading is sitting on the floor, listening to soundtrack from lord of the rings, everything illuminated by candle flickering and doing tarot spreads.

Sometimes it’s pulling one card out of the deck in the car because you got there a minute early.

Sometimes it’s sniffling on the floor, eyes damp with tears, desperately trying to find how to get through this.

Sometimes it’s sitting in the meadow, or the forest. Enjoying the sun. Listening to the birds, feeling at peace.

Sometimes it’s hiding in the bathroom, trying to be fast enough that no one will suspect anything.

Sometimes it’s laying on the floor with a friend or two, pulling cards for each other.

Tarot reading can look so many different ways, that doesn’t mean one is necessarily better or right.

Tarot trick:

When stuck between two choices/options,

First, shuffle/mix up the deck as you normally would before a reading.

Find the HANGED MAN card…

The card above it in the deck and the card below it in the deck represent each choice/option and how they truly are.

(Do not reshuffle)

Then, find the JUDGMENT card.

The card above it in the deck is your advice to follow when choosing, what to remember.

The card below it in the deck shows what to avoid, what to be aware of.
